Celebrating small business in a big way

Ameen & Surria Fadel, founders of Cedar Valley, speaking with a trade show attendee

Small businesses are worth celebrating every day. October is officially National Small Business Month and during this time, it is especially important to highlight the contributions small businesses make in our community. Entrepreneurs drive not just the economy but are the tastemakers who use their talents and cultural identities to contribute to a beautiful and diverse community.

We are very pleased to bring back our celebrated W.E. Shop Local Show. Wrap up a busy month of small business celebrations by coming out to this free event on Oct. 26 at the Fogolar Furlan Club in Windsor from 4-8 p.m. The W.E. Shop Local Show is the easiest way to support local and the most enjoyable way to cap off a successful Small Business Month.

The W.E. Shop Local Show is something you will not want to miss out on. With 50 local small business vendors participating you can get all your shopping done conveniently under one roof.

There is something for everyone at this year’s event. Vendor offerings include delicious food from local caterers, restaurants and bakeries, wellness and artisanal products and local services. A cash bar featuring locally made beer, wine and spirits are yours to discover.

Little Foot Foods, established in 2013, is a returning Shop Local Show vendor that is well known and loved throughout the region for their variety of hand-crafted, ready-to-fry pierogi. In addition to their famous pierogi, they offer quick and easy meal options such as cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers and meatballs.

New to the show this year is Scene 52. Founded in 2022, their cards proudly display their love for the region. Each quality crafted playing card features local art and photos of area landmarks. The decks are great for gifting and playing in Windsor-Essex style.

There are more new and notable vendors this year, including Carolinia Cider Company. Taking inspiration from our region, in the heart of the Carolinia forest, they create fresh, small-batch ciders that are crafted straight from the apples of their orchard.

Montañeros Coffee is ethically sourced from Columbian farmers. The beans are carefullyroasted using the expertisegained while growing up on Columbian coffee farms. We are happy to have their family share their coffee and traditions with you.

Delicious food awaits you with another new vendor in this year’s Shop Show Local Lineup. Zuleeats, founded in 2020, promises to transport your tastebuds to Ghana. You’ll be delighted with their signature savoury pies, sausage rolls, butter tarts and crispy snacks.

Rounding out our list is the long-established personal care brand, Faerhaven. Faerhaven soaps are hand-crafted in small batches. They have a delightful array of bath and body products made with simple, high-quality ingredients.

Join us on Oct. 26 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fogolar Furlan Club to discover these businesses and many more. You’ll have a chance to win door prizes, sample local food and drink and knock a few gifts off your holiday shopping list. There’s ample parking and admission is free.
