Employment Law Seminar for Agricultural Workplaces

Seminars / Workshops

Running a greenhouse or farm today means navigating complex employment rules, a myriad of legislation and regulations, and evolving case law. A single misstep with a worker or an inspection can quickly turn into a costly claim, order, or reputational hit. Our Employment Law Group is offering a free, practical seminar designed to help you get ahead of these risks and address issues before they become problems.

Join us for a focused session tailored to greenhouse and agricultural employers, managers, supervisors and HR professionals in Windsor-Essex County.

This session will address:

  • Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) and Seasonal Workers
How to hire and oversee TFWs and seasonal workers in a way that meets employment law requirements and helps avoid the kinds of complaints, inspections, and program issues that can shut down your season or lead to claims.
  • WSIB and Workplace Injury Management
New important legal developments concerning WSIB claims involving TFWs under the Seasonal Agricultural Program. Best practices in investigations and documentation when injuries happen, challenging a claim in the early stages, controlling costs throughout the claim, and how unmanaged claims can increase WSIB premiums and put you at a competitive disadvantage.
  • Occupational Health and Safety in Greenhouse and Farm Operations
Key OHSA duties for greenhouse and farm environments, common inspection “red flags,” and how to manage training and supervision, as well as the new mandatory minimum $500,000 fine for two serious workplace injuries in a 2-year period.
