Leamington’s Reinvent This Space competition returns

Leamington, ON — The Municipality of Leamington, in partnership with the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre, a division of Invest WindsorEssex, is pleased to announce the return of the Reinvent This Space competition for the second year in uptown Leamington.

Reinvent This Space is a business recruitment initiative that encourages and inspires participants to explore their dreams of entrepreneurship and equips them with the tools and skills needed to open a business in uptown Leamington.

Entrepreneurs are invited to submit a brief video pitch outlining their business idea. A panel of local business leaders will review proposals and select a shortlist of finalists. The finalists will receive in-depth training and support by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre to help develop their business plans. Finalists will then make a final pitch to the panel before the panel awards an up to $15,000 grant to the winner. The Reinvent This Space grant will be used to support the new entrepreneur by providing rent for 12 months for a vacant storefront in uptown Leamington.

“Reinvent This Space is all about taking ideas and dreams and transitioning to a real business,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “This year, we’re excited to be able to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with the expertise and support of our partners at Invest WindsorEssex’s Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre.”

Applications are now open and will be accepted until December 31, 2021. Finalists will be announced on January 26, 2022, with the winner of Reinvent This Space chosen in April 2022.
